Supreme Court Grants Bail To Souvik Bhattacharya In Alleged Teacher Recruitment Irregularities Case

In the West Bengal case involving suspected irregularities in teacher recruitment, the Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to Souvik Bhattacharya, the son of Trinamool Congress leader Manik Bhattacharya. Bela M. Trivedi and Pankaj Mithal, a bench of justices, ordered Souvik Bhattacharya’s release on bail.

Father-son accused in same case

Souvik Bhattacharya was making his bail request in court. Manik Bhattacharya and his son Souvik are being investigated for alleged irregularities in West Bengal’s teacher recruitment process.
In the meantime, sources state that an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team arrested ruling Trinamool Congress leader Partha Chatterjee in Kolkata and carried out raids on close associates of the former West Bengal education minister. According to sources, several locations were the target of raids related to the teacher recruitment scam.

Rs. 21 Crore cash recovered from leader’s house

In 2022, on July 23, Partha Chatterjee was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate in relation to the West Bengal School Service Commission (SSC) scam. Following the recovery of over Rs 1 crore in jewelry and Rs 21 crore in cash from the Kolkata home of Arpita Mukherjee, a close aide to the former education minister, Chatterjee was arrested.
