The Supreme Court of India has directed the Delhi High Court to resolve Amandeep Dhall’s pending petition before the summer recess.
The Delhi High Court previously denied Amandeep Dhall an extension of his interim bail on medical grounds.
Dhall had sought a two-week interim bail extension due to medical reasons.
He is currently under investigation by both the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
Dhall had appealed the lower court’s decision to deny him bail in both CBI and ED cases.
Amandeep Dhall is the director of Brindco Sales Private Limited. He was arrested by the ED on March 1 on charges of money laundering.
According to the ED, Dhall conspired with others and played an active role in formulating the policy.
He is accused of facilitating bribes to the Aam Aadmi Party and benefiting the South Group.
Both the CBI and ED have alleged irregularities in the excise policy amendments, which resulted in undue advantages for license holders.
This included waiving or reducing license fees.
During the lower court proceedings, investigative agencies asserted that Dhall was actively involved in the excise scam, conspiring with other accused parties.
The Supreme Court emphasized the importance of personal liberty, stating that every day counts in such matters.
