Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin condemned Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for calling Tamil Nadu MPs ‘Uncivilized’ during the Parliament session on March 10. He accused Pradhan of insulting Tamil Nadu’s people and questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stance on the issue.
In a post on X, Stalin criticized Pradhan’s remarks. He said, “Education Minister @dpradhanbjp, who speaks arrogantly as if he considers himself a king, needs to mind his language.”
Stalin accused the Centre of denying Tamil Nadu its rightful funds. He questioned what authority Pradhan had to call Tamil Nadu MPs ‘Uncivilized’.
Stalin shared Pradhan’s August 30, 2024 letter, where the Minister acknowledged Tamil Nadu’s rejection of the National Education Policy (NEP) and the trilingual policy.
Responding to Pradhan’s ‘Super CM’ remark, Stalin said the DMK government acts on the people’s will. He declared that his government does not follow external dictates.
He challenged Pradhan to answer whether the Centre would release funds meant for Tamil Nadu students and return the state’s rightful tax revenues.
The NEP dispute led to a heated exchange in Lok Sabha on March 10. The session ended in adjournment.
DMK MP Thamizhachi Thangapandian accused the Union government of withholding funds over Tamil Nadu’s refusal to adopt NEP.
Pradhan responded sharply. He accused DMK MPs of being ‘Uncivilized’ and harming students by rejecting the PM-SHRI scheme linked to NEP 2020.
The TN CM argued that Tamil Nadu already follows parts of Samagra Shiksha, which aligns with NEP. He insisted the state should adopt the full policy.
The standoff between DMK and BJP over education, language, and fiscal policies continues. The Centre’s push for NEP implementation remains a major political issue in Tamil Nadu.
