SRCC Centenary: PM Modi Returns To Delhi University College After 13 Years

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday joined the centenary celebrations of Delhi University’s Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC).

The premier institution marked 100 years of academic excellence. The event coincided with Teachers’ Day.

PM Modi addressed students, alumni and faculty at the North Campus venue after travelling there by Delhi Metro. He last visited SRCC in 2013 as then Gujarat Chief Minister.

Thirteen years later, PM Modi returned as Prime Minister.

During the Metro journey, PM Modi interacted with students, children and fellow passengers. Videos of these informal exchanges quickly gained attention online.

Prime Minister Modi released a Rs 100 commemorative coin to mark SRCC’s centenary. In April 2026, he released a special postage stamp honouring the institution’s 100-year journey.

Before the programme, PM Modi posted on X that he would visit the ‘iconic Shri Ram College of Commerce’ at 7 PM. He praised its academic excellence and role in nurturing leaders.

In his address, Prime Minister Modi named SRCC alumni and called the occasion historic. He honoured founder Sir Shri Ram, describing the institution’s century-long achievements.

Established in 1926, SRCC has built a distinguished reputation in commerce, economics and management education. Its alumni include scholars, professionals, administrators, entrepreneurs and policymakers.

The event brought together students, former principals, faculty members and alumni, with Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi also in attendance.

The visit highlighted PM Modi’s outreach to Gen-Z students and their aspirations for education and nation-building.
