South Delhi Man Kills a Woman With An Iron Rod After She Declines a Marriage Proposal

In the Malviya Nagar neighborhood of south Delhi, a man is accused of killing a 23-year-old lady with an iron rod on Friday because she declined his marriage proposal, according to the police.
The defendant was taken into custody.

According to police sources, the woman, named as Nargis, was attacked by Irfan, 28, while they were both in a park close to Sri Aurobindo College at Delhi University.

Accused and victim’s relation

According to the police, the accused and the victim are first cousins, and their mothers are sisters. The accused had been allegedly stalking the victim for the past three to four days in an effort to get an opportunity to speak with her.

Following the incident, Delhi’s chief minister Arvind Kejriwal criticized the city’s law and order situation and urged the lieutenant governor and the Union home minister to take decisive action.

The accused claims to have stolen the iron rod from his residence, which was then used in the crime. He further claimed that despite his best efforts to meet the woman on Monday, he was unsuccessful for a number of reasons. We are investigating his claims, according to a source.

The victim’s family members informed the police that after the marriage proposal was declined, the families did not get along.
The sources claimed that the defendant had graduated from Kamla Nehru College and was currently enrolled in stenographer training. They also stated that the defendant did not have a regular job and was working as a food delivery agent.
The Delhi Commission for Women has sent the police a notification requesting information about the murder.
The DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal sent the deputy commissioner of police (South) a notice requesting information on the FIR filed, the accused, and any further actions taken by July 31.
