Siraj Qureshi of India Islamic Cultural Center and Arch-Rival Kalimul Hafeez Unite Forces

Sirajuddin Qureshi of the India Islamic Cultural Centre has become more powerful now in the upcoming IICC election. Kaleem-ul-Hafiz, a strong opponent of Quraishi and a strong contender for the president’s position has joined hands with him. In the presence of the media, while announcing his support, Kaleem-ul-Hafiz said that after much deliberation with the Life Members (voters) of the centre, he has decided to support Sirajuddin Qureshi.

Mr. Kaleem said that a few people at IICC want to control over centre illegally, and want to line their pockets by using the centre for commercial purposes. It is to defeat such elements that I have decided to support Sirajuddin Qureshi.

In his speech on this occasion, Sirajuddin Qureshi, who has been the president of the India Islamic Cultural Centre four times, said that for him, the dignity of the Islamic Centre and the welfare of its members are paramount. Mr Qureshi said that if the voters of the centre allow him to serve as president again, he will accept it and fulfil the remaining tasks of the centre within the time frame. Mr. Qureshi said that he is pleased that Kaleem-ul-Hafiz has supported him for larger goals. I thank him from the bottom of my heart. In his speech, the vice president of the centre, S.M. Khan, said that the decision of the Delhi High Court, supporting Mr. Kaleem-ul-Hafiz is indicative of the fact that Mr. Siraj Qureshi has contributed significantly to the development and dignity of the Islamic centre during his tenure. On this occasion, Abuzar Hussain Khan, Sikandar Hayat, Bahar Barki, and Sartaj Ali also expressed their views.

A senior member of the centre, Dr Waris Ahmad Khan, said that Sirajuddin Qureshi has never done any work against the rules of the Islamic centre, which is why the decision of the Delhi High Court has come in his favour. Dr Waris Khan said that Siraj Sb has not only turned a ruin in the Lutyens’ zone into a magnificent building but has also earned recognition in the country and the globe, which is why important people like Kaleem-ul-Hafiz have come forward to support Mr Qureshi.

Another member of the Islamic Centre, Dr. M. Rahmatullah, said that the selfless work done by Mr Sirajuddin Qureshi for the centre inspires the people of the country and voters of IICC to support him. Mubeena Abrar said that Azizur Rahman and Asif Zaidi have played a very significant role in bringing Kaleem-ul-Hafiz and Siraj Qureshi together on one platform. On this occasion, supporters of Siraj Qureshi’s team, Azizur Rahman, Asif Zaidi, Safiya Begum, Advocate Irshad Ahmad, Kafil Akhtar, Abrar Ahmad, Md Shahnavaz, Rizwana Mushtaq, Aarif Hussain, Shafiq Qureshi, Akhtar Adil, Dr Majid Deobandi, Imran Khan, Javed Aslam, Khushro Khan, Hafiz Matloob, Idris Khan, Aslam Javed were present among a large number of his supporters.
