Satveer Pehalwan Of Gorakhpur Wins Uttar Pradesh Kesari Title In Lucknow

International wrestler Satveer Yadav of Gorakhpur emerged victorious in the Uttar Pradesh Kesari wrestling championship held in Para, Lucknow, defeating Ajit Singh from Jaunpur in a decisive bout.

The final match concluded in just two minutes, as Satveer overpowered his opponent to claim the much-coveted title.

The wrestling competition, organised in memory of Late Prabhu Dayal, took place near Deputy Kheda, Para, and drew participation from talented wrestlers across the state.

The event served as a platform to honour traditional Indian wrestling and promote the sport among the younger generation.

The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Lucknow West MLA Arman Khan as the Chief Guest and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami as the Special Guest.

Both leaders praised the dedication of the organisers and the wrestlers, highlighting the importance of preserving India’s traditional sports culture.

The competition was organised by national wrestler Hariprasad Yadav, who extended a warm welcome to all the guests and participants.

He also honoured veteran wrestlers by ceremoniously tying safas (traditional turbans) as a mark of respect for their lifelong contribution to the sport.

Celebrating Traditional Wrestling

The Uttar Pradesh Kesari Dangal reflected the continued enthusiasm for traditional Indian wrestling, known as kushti, which remains deeply rooted in the state’s rural and cultural life.

The Para wrestling arena buzzed with excitement as spectators cheered for their favourites, turning the event into a celebration of sportsmanship and community spirit.

Satveer’s victory reaffirmed his reputation as one of the leading wrestlers from Uttar Pradesh. His swift and powerful performance showcased exceptional skill and discipline, earning him accolades from both fans and fellow athletes.

The memorial tournament not only paid tribute to the Late Prabhu Dayal but also encouraged young athletes to take up wrestling with dedication and pride.

Addressing the audience, the organisers emphasised that such events preserve India’s sporting heritage and inspire the next generation to achieve excellence in traditional sports.
