Uttar Pradesh Minister Sanjay Nishad was allegedly assaulted by multiple individuals while visiting a hamlet in the Khalilabad Kotwali Police Station area to attend a wedding, as per police reports on Monday. Vinod Kumar, the minister’s personal secretary, lodged a complaint regarding the incident.
Quoting the complaint, Circle Officer Brijesh Singh disclosed that Sanjay Nishad sustained injuries in an attack by several individuals in Mohammadpur Kathar village.
According to Sanjay Nishad, the altercation occurred late Sunday night when he arrived at Jagannath Nishad’s residence for the wedding, and other individuals engaged in a dispute with him. During the altercation, several of them assaulted the minister, causing him to bleed from the nose. He was subsequently transferred to a hospital and received first aid treatment.
In response to the incident, Sanjay Nishad, the head of the NISHAD party, a constituent of the ruling NDA, staged a protest at the district hospital in Sant Kabir Nagar. The agitation was called off after Superintendent of Police Satyajit Gupta listened to his complaint at the hospital and assured him of taking necessary action.
The CO informed that the police had registered an FIR against six village residents under sections 147 (rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing harm), and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. He further stated that Raghavendra Yadav, Jai Prakash Yadav, Digvijay Yadav, and Abhishek Yadav had been detained. According to Gupta, the police are investigating the matter, and law and order is under control.
Praveen Nishad, Sanjay Nishad’s son, is the Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Sant Kabir Nagar, and the party has nominated him for re-election.
