Sant Kabir Das Remembered As A Timeless Symbol Of Harmony And Reform, Says PM Modi On Kabir Jayanti

Sant Kabir Das Jayanti: On the occasion of Kabir Jayanti, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday remembered Sant Kabir Das as a timeless symbol of social harmony and reform whose words still resonate with the Indian conscience.

Sant Kabir, the 15th-century mystic poet and reformer, celebrated for his powerful verses. His writings challenged social divisions and promoted spiritual equality.

His couplets remain influential for their simplicity and emotional depth.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “My heartfelt salutations on the birth anniversary of Sant Kabir Das Ji, who dedicated his entire life to social harmony. His couplets are marked by the simplicity of words and the depth of emotions. That is why he continues to have a profound impact on the Indian psyche even today. His contribution to eliminating social evils will always be remembered with reverence.”

In a video message also posted online, the Prime Minister reflected on Sant Kabir’s legacy. He described him as a visionary who offered a message of unity during a time of great turmoil.

“Kabir Das Ji has worked strongly on social construction, he was way ahead of his time, that time when the world was struggling, Sant Kabir Das gave the message of peace and unity,” PM Modi stated.

The Prime Minister cited one of Kabir’s widely quoted dohas, “Jaati na pucho sadhu ki, puch lijiye gyaan,” which translates to “Do not ask the caste of a saint, ask about their knowledge”

Several other political leaders also extended tributes.

“Tributes to the great saint poet Sant Kabir Das Ji on his birth anniversary. Heartiest wishes on Kabir Jayanti,” Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari posted on X.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also offered his tributes to the revered saint.

“A symbol of harmony, devotion and social awakening, crores of salutations to the great Saint Kabir Das Ji on his birth anniversary! The couplets written by him are even today showing the path of truth, compassion and equality to society,” he posted.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha echoed the sentiment.

Taking to X, he posted, “Greetings on the auspicious occasion of Sant Kabir Das Ji Jayanti. Revered by all sections of society, Sant Kabir ji’s compositions have been a source of wisdom & inspiration to humanity. Let’s rededicate ourselves to serve people with dedication & build a just, humane society.”

Kabir Jayanti, observed widely across India ]- especially in Uttar Pradesh – marks the birth of the revered saint. His teachings continue to guide social and spiritual thought in the country, encouraging unity, compassion, and awareness beyond caste and creed.
