Sanskar Bharati Hosts Folk Art Symposium Celebrating Basant Panchami At Kala Sankul

Sanskar Bharati successfully organised a monthly symposium dedicated to folk art and Indian cultural traditions in New Delhi. The two-day event took place on January 23 and 24, 2026.

The venue was the organisation’s art centre, ‘Kala Sankul’. The programme coincided with the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami.

The symposium showcased a vibrant blend of art, devotion, and folk heritage. It created a living confluence of cultural practice and artistic discipline.

On the first day, organisers conducted a formal Saraswati Puja at 11 AM. Scholars, artists, and cultural practitioners participated actively.

They sought blessings from Goddess Saraswati for wisdom and creative inspiration. The ritual infused the venue with a deeply spiritual and cultural atmosphere.

The second day featured a cultural evening beginning at 5:30 PM. Audiences witnessed a rich display of folk art traditions from across regions.

Rituals Mark Cultural Beginning

Senior office bearers inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

Attendees included Ashok Tiwari, Sanjay Kumar Poddar, Shruti Singh, and the monthly coordinator, Mrityunjay.

Folk singer Chandni Shukla opened the performances with soulful traditional songs. Renowned artist Amit Kumar followed with a devotional Saraswati Vandana.

A series of folk dances then unfolded. Artists from Purnia presented the Jhijhiya dance. Uday Singh and Shruti Mehta performed the energetic Jat Jatin.

Shruti, Pratiksha, Rajnandini, and Shambhavi showcased the Sama Chakeba dance. The groups later presented Jhumar and Kajri performances.

The collective dance presentations connected audiences to the roots of Indian rural life. They highlighted the diversity and depth of folk traditions.

The artsymposium reinforced efforts to preserve and promote folk arts. It also aimed to transmit these traditions to younger generations: art lovers, intellectuals, and youth attended in large numbers.

At the conclusion, senior leaders Abhijit Gokhale and Ashok Tiwari presented ceremonial shawls to all performers. Garima Rani conducted the programme smoothly.

Symposium coordinator Shruti Sinha delivered the vote of thanks. Several organisers and cultural contributors played key roles in ensuring the event’s success.
