On Friday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh criticized the BJP, accusing the party of removing voters’ names from the electoral list to manipulate the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections through an ‘electoral scam.’
Addressing voters in the New Delhi Assembly constituency, Singh said, “BJP is running a campaign for the deletion of names of voters in the assembly constituency of Arvind Kejriwal. This is a scam.”
He alleged that the effort was aimed at targeting long-term residents of the area, asserting, “If they can get their names deleted from the list, they can do anything with them.”
“I want you to check this (Voters List) to see how the BJP is intentionally running a campaign for the deletion of votes in Arvind Kejriwal’s assembly constituency (New Delhi) – of those people who are living here for years,” said the AAP MP.
He further urged the Election Commission to take note of this and conduct an investigation.
Sanjay Singh also mentioned that the party has alerted the Election Commission about the issue and called for an investigation.
He noted, “We have continuously complained about it in the Election Commission. BJP wants to win the election through an electoral scam.”
On Monday, AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar accused the BJP of trying to influence voters in Delhi, particularly in the Shadara constituency, where she claimed BJP leader Vishal Bharadwaj filed requests to remove voters’ names.
Kakkar also alleged that BJP leader Parvesh Sharma offered money for votes in the New Delhi constituency and submitted contradictory applications to the Election Commission regarding voter deletions and additions.
She noted, “BJP wants to cut the votes of the many Purvanchalis living in Delhi. One Vishal Bharadwaj of BJP gave applications for the deletion of voters’ names in the Shadara constituency. When we raised our voices against it, then he stopped it.”
“In the New Delhi constituency, BJP leader Parvesh Sharma did the work of distributing money for votes. A BJP leader put an application in ECI for deletion of voters’ names. There was another application to add names of voters. BJP is rattled,” AAP spokesperson added.
Earlier on Thursday, Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva accused the AAP of rigging the elections through double voting.
He pointed out that AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh’s name appeared on the voter lists for both the New Delhi and Tilak Nagar constituencies.
Sachdeva called for the Election Commission and Delhi Police to investigate such instances.
The BJP leader also criticized AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal for not addressing key issues in the city, such as poor water quality and damaged roads.
With the Delhi Assembly elections scheduled for February 2025, tensions between the AAP and BJP have escalated, with both parties making serious allegations against each other.
