Soon after taking charge as the Bihar unit president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sanjay Saraogi paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday and sought his blessings.
The meeting was described as cordial and meaningful, with a strong focus on Bihar’s development and welfare-oriented initiatives.
During the meeting, Sanjay Saraogi presented the Prime Minister with a specially crafted metal memento depicting Punoura Dham, the birthplace of Goddess Sita.
He also gifted a shawl adorned with a traditional Madhubani painting, symbolising Bihar’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
The memento featured artistic depictions of Lord Rama, Lakshmana, and Goddess Sita, highlighting the deep-rooted cultural significance of the Mithila region.
Prime Minister Modi appreciated the gesture and acknowledged Bihar’s historic and spiritual legacy.
Sources said that a key part of the discussion centred on makhana (fox nut) cultivation, a unique agricultural product closely associated with Bihar.
Prime Minister Modi spoke at length about the condition of makhana farmers, their welfare, employment generation, and the scope for value addition in the sector.
He reiterated the central government’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of makhana producers by strengthening supply chains, encouraging processing units, and enhancing market access.
The Prime Minister underlined that boosting farmers’ income remains a top priority.
The two leaders also exchanged views on the overall development of Mithila and Bihar. Their discussions covered welfare schemes, infrastructure growth, and cultural promotion.
The leaders emphasised Madhubani painting, a globally recognised art form, and discussed supporting local artists to preserve Bihar’s cultural identity.
Prime Minister Modi highlighted the need to link traditional art and culture with economic opportunities, ensuring sustainable livelihoods for artisans.
Apart from developmental issues, Prime Minister Modi discussed organisational matters with the Bihar BJP president. He offered guidance on strengthening the party at the grassroots level.
PM Modi emphasised the need to make the organisation more active, inclusive, and people-centric.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of strong coordination between party workers and public outreach to effectively address people’s aspirations.
Speaking about the meeting, Sanjay Saraogi said that detailed discussions were held on organisational matters and Bihar’s development.
He noted that the Prime Minister’s guidance would help strengthen the party and empower farmers across the state.
“This meeting was inspiring and important for Bihar’s overall development, farmers’ empowerment, and organisational strengthening,” Saraogi said.
During his Delhi visit, Sanjay Saraogi also met BJP President J.P. Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Discussions focused on organisational and political issues related to Bihar, further underscoring the party’s strategic preparations in the state.
