Salman Khurshid Voiced displeasure with PM’s remark that “Congress will bulldoze temple”

Veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister on Saturday expressed discontent over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that if the Congress comes to power, it “will bulldoze the Ram temple” at Ayodhya.

Addressing a press conference at the state Congress headquarters, Khurshid asserted, “The entire nation has accepted the temple that was built in accordance with a supreme court verdict.”

“The Prime Minister should remember that the credit for the construction of the temple goes not to him but to the Supreme Court. God belongs to all, and so do places of worship. It is unfortunate that the PM is speaking such language,” Khurshid said, expressing displeasure over the PM’s remark.

Salman Khurshid, who had held portfolios like law and justice during the UPA government, took a dig at the Prime Minister for comparing Congress’s manifesto with that of the Muslim League. Khurshid asked, when did the Prime Minister get to read the Muslim League’s Manifesto to draw a comparison with Congress’s?

Khurshid claimed that the allegations of the PM and other senior BJP leaders were “proof that even they have begun to sense that we are coming to power.”

Congress leader bristled at the remark of BJP leader labeling a section of the population as “Pakistan supporters” and maintained “Let them send their children to the neighboring country which they refer to so frequently in their discourse. I am grateful to my ancestors who chose to stay back during partition, preferring one’s own motherland to a stepmother.

Congress leader assured the attendees of INDIA bloc’s win in the currently going Lok Sabha elections, saying, “We are confident of winning the election, in any case. Once we come to power we will fulfill promises like scrapping the Agniveer scheme and 10 kg free rations to the poor. The BJP has been boasting about its five Kg ration scheme for which credit goes to the Right to Food Act that was passed under the UAPA rule.”
