Ritesh Agarwal’s Father Dies After Falling From A Highrise Building In Gurugram

Ramesh Agarwal, the father of OYO founder Ritesh Agarwal, died on Friday after falling from a high-rise in Gurugram.

According to Vijender Vij, DCP East, Gurugram, “Ramesh Agarwal (father of OYO founder Ritesh Agarwal) died after falling off the 20th floor of DLF The Crest, Sector 54, Gurugram. Gurugram police officers went to Sector 53”.

“Inquest report completed in accordance with Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code. A team, including SHO Sec 53, went to the scene of the incident. The body was returned to family members after a postmortem examination”, he added.

Ramesh Agarwal and his wife were living in a high-rise apartment. His son’s house is not in the same building.

Ramesh Agarwal’s death was confirmed by an OYO spokesperson. Ritesh Agarwal also issued a statement, announcing the death of his father.

“My family and I are saddened to report that my father, Shri Ramesh Agarwal, passed away on March 10th. Every day, he inspired me and so many others by living a full life”, he stated.

“His death has been a devastating blow to our family. My father’s compassion and warmth saw us through the most difficult times and carried us forward. His words will strike a deep chord in our hearts. We ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time”, the statement went on to say.

The tragic incident occurred three days after Ritesh Agarwal married Geetansha Sood, the director of Formation Ventures in New Delhi, in a ceremony attended by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Softbank Chairman Masayoshi Son, Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma, and others.
