Republic Day 2023: Agniveer marches for first time in history

Republic Day 2023: Agniveers participated in the Republic Day parade for the first time. The naval contingent of 144 young sailors led by Lieutenant Commander Disha Amrit marched on the Path of Duty( Kartavya Path). During this, 3 women and 6 men Agniveers were included in the troop.

The Central government’s Agnipath Yojana was announced on 14 June 2022. It was launched with the intention of streamlining enlistment in the armed forces. In accordance with this plan, individuals will be inducted into the various branches of the armed forces as “Agniveers” for a period of four years, following which a quarter will remain as regular military employees and the remaining individuals will be let go with a one-time, tax-free gratuity of approximately 11 lakhs.
