Reports: Joe Biden To Be The Guest Of Honor Republic Day 2024

President Joe Biden has been invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi on January 26 of the next year, according to US Ambassador Eric Garcetti, a sign of the growing ties between the two nations.

Quad leaders on the guest list

In response to a query about the Quad leaders’ invitations to the Republic Day celebrations, Garcetti stated during an interaction hosted by the Ananta Centre that Modi had just issued the invitation to Biden during their bilateral meeting that took place in New Delhi alongside the G20 Summit.

The administration was thinking of inviting the Quad grouping’s leaders to the Republic Day festivities the following year. According to insiders, a definitive decision wouldn’t be made until after confirming the leaders’ availability—President Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

Quad to be the next big event in  India

Since all three of the leaders of the Quad grouping were present for the G20 Summit, sources claimed that the Indian side had been working on those lines. Additionally, India will host the Quad Summit the following year. By the end of 2024, Biden will be running for office, and his last State of the Union address will be in January, just before the election.

On January 26, the Australian government also observes National Day in remembrance of the founding of the first permanent European settlement on the island continent. Albanese will be very busy with official ceremonies and celebrations.

Quad Alliance

The last week of January marks the start of Japan’s Diet (parliament) session, and the Prime Minister is typically present during the first few weeks of the Budget session. The 150-day session is set to begin on January 23 of the following year.

If the proposal to bring together the Quad leaders is successful, it will send a clear message to China, whose assertive behavior in the Indo-Pacific region has prompted the four nations to come together.

The Quad alliance was established in 2007, but by 2008 it had lost its appeal. After Biden took office, it was reintroduced in 2017 at the official level and upgraded to the level of foreign ministers in 2019 and leaders in 2021.
