Raksha Bandhan: Sunetra Pawar Ties Rakhi To Amit Shah In Mumbai

On Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Mumbai, where Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar welcomed him by tying a rakhi on his wrist on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde were among those who received Shah at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

Pawar later shared pictures from the airport and said the occasion marked the festival of Raksha Bandhan. She expressed gratitude for Shah’s guidance and support towards Maharashtra’s development and national interests.

Shah’s Mumbai visit came a day after he celebrated Raksha Bandhan in Ahmedabad with children from his parliamentary constituency who are living with Type-1 diabetes.

During the programme, Shah highlighted the lifelong need for insulin among children with Type-1 diabetes and the financial pressure this can place on families. He said the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a decision to provide free insulin for life to children with the condition.

“Under the leadership of Modi ji, our government is providing free insulin for life to all such children,” Shah said in a post on X, describing the initiative as an expression of the government’s commitment to ‘service, empathy, and security’.

Shah had last visited Mumbai on August 8, when he inaugurated the new office of the National Urban Co-operative Finance and Development Corporation Limited (NUCFDC) at Sharda Sadan in Fort.

The Minister’s latest visit to the Maharashtra capital comes as the state leadership continues to coordinate with the Union government on development and administrative matters.
