Rajnath Singh Sends Strong Global Message On Pakistan’s Nuclear Arsenal From Srinagar

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh issued a bold message to the international community on Thursday, questioning the safety of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons and branding the country as an ‘irresponsible and rogue nation’.

Addressing soldiers in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, Singh urged the world to seriously question trusting Pakistan with nuclear arms.

Call For Global Oversight

“Today, from the soil of Srinagar, I want to raise a question before the entire world,” Singh said. “Are nuclear weapons safe in the hands of such an irresponsible and rogue nation?”

He added that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) should take control of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons.

The IAEA is a global body responsible for promoting the peaceful use of nuclear energy and preventing its misuse for military purposes.

Singh’s statement comes on the heels of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s warning that India will no longer tolerate ‘nuclear blackmail’ from Pakistan.

Emphasising India’s firm stance against terrorism, Singh said, “The strength of India’s resolve is clear—we have not cared about Pakistan’s nuclear blackmail. The world has seen how irresponsibly Pakistan has issued nuclear threats to India.”

His remarks reflected a growing frustration within India over Pakistan’s repeated invocation of its nuclear capabilities amid escalating tensions.

Kirana Hills Clarification

Singh’s comments followed reports of a possible radiation leak in Pakistan’s Kirana Hills, reportedly due to Indian strikes.

However, the Indian military clarified that no nuclear site was targeted. Air Marshal AK Bharti stated, “We did not hit Kirana Hills. It was not on the list of targets we told you we hit.”

Praising ‘Operation Sindoor’, which ran from May 7 to May 10, Singh described it as India’s largest operation against terrorism.

“For 35–40 years, India has faced terrorism from across the border. Today, we have made it clear that we can go to any extent to eliminate this threat,” he said.

Referring to the brutal Pahalgam attack where terrorists shot tourists in the forehead, Singh said, “They attacked India’s forehead; we inflicted wounds on their chest. India has responded with strength and clarity.”

Singh warned Pakistan firmly to stop harbouring terrorist organisations and to prevent using its soil against India.

His message, delivered from Srinagar, reaffirmed India’s readiness to act decisively against any threat to its sovereignty or unity.
