In a deeply distressing incident in Rajasthan’s Pratapgarh district, a tribal woman was subjected to a brutal attack allegedly orchestrated by her husband. The incident, captured in a shocking video, shows the man stripping and parading his 21-year-old wife naked outside their home as she desperately cried out for help.
The attack reportedly stemmed from suspicions of the woman being in a relationship with another man. According to local authorities, the woman’s in-laws played a role in her abduction and subsequent assault in their village.
Rajasthan’s Director General of Police, Umesh Mishra, disclosed that three individuals have been detained, with more arrests anticipated in the coming hours. The police have launched a thorough investigation, forming six teams to apprehend the suspects. Pratapgarh’s Superintendent of Police, Amit Kumar, is personally overseeing the case in the village.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot swiftly condemned the incident, vowing to take stringent action against the culprits. He instructed the Director General of Police to deploy the ADG Crime to the site and ensure that justice is served promptly. Gehlot emphasized that there is no place for such heinous acts in a civilized society.
The appalling incident has also triggered political responses, with BJP Chief JP Nadda criticizing the state government for its alleged neglect of women’s safety. He pointed out the ongoing factional disputes within the ruling Congress party, implying that this was diverting attention from pressing issues.
Meanwhile, the BJP’s Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore condemned the lack of swift action by authorities and called for accountability, questioning the whereabouts of Rahul Gandhi and demanding Ashok Gehlot’s resignation.
The incident has not only exposed a grave violation of women’s rights but also ignited a broader debate on the state’s governance and the urgency of addressing women’s safety issues. Rajasthan is set to hold elections later this year, making this incident a focal point of public concern and political discourse.
