Sadhvi Prem Baisa, aged 23, was buried on Friday at her ashram in Pareu village, located in Rajasthan’s Balotra district, following her untimely and unexplained death that has prompted intense public discussion.
The burial ceremony was carried out strictly in accordance with religious customs. Numerous saints, sadhus and followers attended the rites, during which devotional songs and sacred chants were recited.
After the rituals concluded, devotees offered prayers at the samadhi. The final rites were completed around 12:30 PM.
Prem Baisa was taken to a private hospital in Jodhpur on Wednesday, where she reportedly died shortly after being admitted. Her father, Veeram Nath, maintained that she had only minor health complaints, including a cold and throat infection.
He alleged that an injection administered at an ashram in Jodhpur led to a sudden and severe decline in her condition.
“She had continuous programmes and had taken a rest day on the 28th. I suggested taking her to Preksha Hospital, but she refused and asked me to call someone nearby. Within 30 seconds of the injection, her condition deteriorated,” he said.
Calling for transparency, he demanded a detailed investigation and the release of medical findings. Referring to her purported final words, he added, “I did not get justice in my lifetime, but please ensure I get justice.”
The controversy deepened after an alleged suicide note emerged following her death. Her body was brought back to Pareu village on Thursday evening, accompanied by her grieving father.
At the same time, a previous blackmail case involving the sadhvi has once again come under scrutiny.
In July 2025, a video circulated online that she said was misrepresented. She had lodged a police complaint stating the man in the footage was her father and that the video dated back to 2021.
Police had earlier arrested four individuals for allegedly stealing the footage from CCTV cameras and attempting extortion. Authorities have said inquiries into the circumstances of her death are still pending.
