Rajasthan Police Targets Rs 220 Crore Illegal Assets In Crackdown On Organised Crime

Rajasthan Police has launched a major campaign against organised crime and mafia networks by targeting illegally acquired wealth across the state.

Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, authorities have identified properties worth more than ₹220 crore linked to 636 hardened criminals and initiated legal proceedings for their attachment and confiscation.

Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar Sharma said officials are taking action under Section 107 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

The provision allows authorities to target assets allegedly obtained through criminal activities and weaken the financial foundations of organised crime.

Police have already secured court orders to attach illegal properties worth nearly ₹32 crore in 13 cases.

One of the most significant actions took place in Bundi district, where authorities attached assets valued at around ₹12 crore in a single case.

Officials have submitted 584 applications before various courts seeking confiscation of criminal properties.

Courts have issued notices in 182 cases, and legal proceedings continue to advance rapidly.

Alongside confiscation efforts, police have intensified action against unauthorised constructions linked to criminal syndicates.

Between January 1 and May 28, 2026, authorities conducted 39 demolition drives and removed illegal properties worth approximately ₹35.1 crore.

Jhalawar district recorded the highest number of demolitions, with 12 operations involving assets valued at nearly ₹22.9 crore.

The campaign has also targeted narcotics trafficking networks. Through the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), police initiated proceedings against 36 drug smugglers between January and April 2026.

Courts approved seizure and freezing measures in 28 cases, resulting in assets worth around ₹33 crore being frozen.

Overall, authorities have taken action against properties exceeding ₹66 crore connected to drug trafficking activities.

DGP Sharma said BNSS Section 107, introduced in July 2024, has emerged as a powerful legal mechanism. He stated that the objective extends beyond imprisonment and focuses on dismantling criminal financial networks.

Police officials added that confiscated assets could eventually help victims.

Under the new provisions, however, eligible individuals may receive compensation or property restoration through district administrations.

The state government reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy against organised crime, drug trafficking, and criminal syndicates built on illegal wealth.
