Rains Bring Relief To Delhi-NCR After Intense Heatwave

A sudden spell of rain on Tuesday brought long-awaited relief to residents of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) after days of scorching heat and high humidity.

The showers, which ranged from light to heavy, swept across South and Central Delhi, significantly lowering temperatures and bringing a sense of relief to weary citizens.

Gusty winds signal start of monsoon activity

Strong winds began sweeping areas like AIIMS, the Qutub Institutional Area, and other parts of Delhi in the afternoon, marking the arrival of the much-anticipated rain.

As the downpour intensified, temperatures dropped, and the once-clear skies turned overcast.

The cool breeze and fresh scent of rain replaced the dry, dusty air that had dominated the region for days.

Noida, Ghaziabad also experience heavy rainfall

The rain didn’t limit itself to Delhi. Residents in NCR cities such as Noida and Ghaziabad also enjoyed the monsoon’s arrival.

Heavy showers followed by strong gusts of wind provided instant relief from the high temperatures and humidity.

Roads became slick with rain, and the landscape quickly transformed under the cool, damp conditions.

IMD issues weather alert for Delhi-NCR

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) responded to the sudden weather change with an updated advisory.

Officials warned of possible hailstorms, thunderstorms, and heavy rainfall across parts of Delhi and the NCR.

Wind speeds are expected to reach 50–70 km/h, and lightning activity is also likely in areas such as Jafarpur, Narela, Dwarka, IGI Airport, Tughlakabad, Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad, and Gurugram.

The IMD extended the alert to parts of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

Isolated areas like Jhajjar and Farukhnagar (Haryana), Sikandrabad, Debai, Sahaswan (UP), and Laxmangarh, Rajgarh, Nadbai (Rajasthan) are expected to witness similar weather conditions within the next few hours.

Temperature forecast for Delhi-NCR week

According to the IMD, daytime temperatures will range from 33°C to 36°C, while nighttime temperatures will remain between 25°C and 29°C.

The bulletin also predicted continued light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds (40–60 km/h) throughout the evening, providing extended relief for the region.
