On Friday, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, called for a parliamentary discussion on the NEET exam during a media interaction at the Parliament premises.
Rahul Gandhi emphasized the importance of addressing the NEET exam controversy through a “good and respectful discussion” in Parliament.
He highlighted that all opposition floor leaders had unanimously agreed to prioritize the NEET issue for discussion on the parliamentary floor.
Yesterday, all opposition floor leaders convened and unanimously agreed to discuss the NEET issue today.
I would like to say to all the Indian students that this is your issue,” Gandhi stated, underscoring the significance of the matter for the nation’s youth.
Expressing solidarity with students, Gandhi, representing the INDIA bloc, asserted, “We all believe that your concerns are paramount because you are the future of the country. Therefore, we collectively urge for a thorough discussion on the NEET issue in the Parliament before deliberating on the President’s Address.”
Rahul Gandhi further appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing, “This is an issue concerning the youth of our nation and deserves careful and respectful deliberation. The youth are anxious about the implications, and it is crucial that Parliament sends a message of unity in addressing their concerns, with both government and opposition engaging constructively.”
The NEET-UG 2024, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on 5 May, witnessed the participation of approximately 24 lakh candidates.
However, the announcement of results on June 4 was marred by allegations of question paper leaks and irregularities.
In response to these allegations, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has initiated an investigation, deploying special teams to probe the matter.
