Rameshwar is a “lively person”

On Monday, Delhi-based Congress politician Rahul Gandhi hosted a meal for vegetable vendor Rameshwar, who had recently gained notoriety on social media. The Congress MP referred to the merchant as a “lively person” while posting their photo on X, the platform that replaced Twitter.

Rameshwar Ji is a vivacious individual! He provides a window into the kind nature of millions of Indians. The true “Bharat Bhagya Vidhaata” are those who continue on with a smile despite challenging circumstances, Gandhi remarked.

Congress and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s official X (formerly Twitter) accounts also posted images of Gandhi and the vegetable vendor. “Rameshwar ji stated that he wanted to meet the populist hero. They gathered, the Congress reported.

In July, a video of Rameshwar that showed him sobbing while discussing his struggles with inflation went viral. The rates of tomatoes are above my mean. I do not have the money to make the purchase.

“…We are not even sure at what price we will be able to sell it. If they get damp in the rain or something happens to the stock, we end up making a loss,” Rameshwar added, who had visited the Azadpur Mandi market in the national capital with his son to procure tomatoes for his retail store, but ended up with an empty handcart.

The video was widely shared by Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders who had hit out at the ruling government over the rising prices.

Immediately after, Gandhi visited the Azadpur Mandi to take stock of the situation. Post this, Rameshwar had reportedly expressed his desire to meet the Congress MP.
