On August 17, Rahul Gandhi travelled to Ladakh for the first time after the union territory received UT status after Article 370 was repealed in August 2019.
Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, promised on Friday to bring the concerns of the Ladakhi people before Parliament, claiming that their “political voice” was being silenced and that the promises of employment made by the BJP-led central government had shown to be untrue.
For the past week, Gandhi has been visiting the union region of Ladakh. The Congress lawmaker stated, “I went to every corner of Ladakh and talked to the youth, mothers, sisters, and the poor. I was mocking PM Modi’s monthly radio programme ‘Man Ki Baat’.” Other leaders solely discuss their “Mann Ki Baat,” for example. I would want to hear your “Mann Ki Baat.”
India’s land has been stolen by China by the thousands of km. Every everyone in Ladakh is aware that the prime minister is lying by denying this, Gandhi wrote in a Hindi X post (previously on Twitter).
The biggest problem for the Ladakh people, according to the former president of the Congress, is that their political voice is being silenced and that the promises made by the federal government regarding employment have shown to be untrue, in addition to the absence of a cell network and air connectivity.
In addition to expressing gratitude to the people of Ladakh for their hospitality and kindness, Gandhi promised to bring up all of these problems at the upcoming session of Parliament.
In the meantime, Gandhi’s X post was reposted by Congress national secretary Jairam Ramesh, who claimed that Rahul Gandhi interacted with Ladakh residents while advancing the Bharat Jodo Yatra. He claimed he listened to their opinions in the spirit of the foot march.

“After hearing about these issues, it is evident that the Modi government has left Ladakh to fend for itself. Ramesh remarked on X, “Leaders who are just focused in their ‘Mann Ki Baat’ can never allow the voice of the people to be heard.
Earlier today, the Wayanad-based Congress member attacked the BJP for allegedly wanting to seize the land from the Ladakhi people and transfer it to the Adani Group while speaking at a rally in Kargil.
The BJP wants to take your land and give it to Adani so that he can build his factory, but they don’t want to share the advantages with you. If you had representation, they would not be able to take your land away. But we won’t ever allow this to occur,” he continued.
Gandhi alleged that China was annexing Indian land in Ladakh. “Ladakh is a key site, and it is obvious that China has taken Indian territory. It is regrettable that the PM said that China had not seized even a single inch of Ladakh during the opposition meeting. However, this is false.
Gandhi paid respects to the Indian Army men who gave their lives during the 1999 war with Pakistan on Friday by visiting the Kargil War Memorial in Drass.
On August 17, Rahul Gandhi travelled to Ladakh, his first trip to the union territory since it received UT status in August 2019 after being separated from Jammu and Kashmir. After Article 370 was repealed, the former state of Jammu and Kashmir was also given a special status as a Union Territory.
Before arriving at Kargil on Thursday, Gandhi rode his motorbike through a number of locations in Ladakh over the previous week, including the Pangong lake, Nubra valley, Khardungla peak, Lamayuru, and Zanskar.
