QR Cards, Pregnancy Alerts And Vaccination Updates: What JANANI Offers

The government has introduced a new digital healthcare platform named JANANI to strengthen the monitoring of maternal and child health services across the country.

According to an official statement issued on Thursday, JANANI, short for Journey of Antenatal, Natal and Neonatal Integrated Care, will help maintain digital health records for women and children through different stages of care, including pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal support.

The platform uses QR-enabled digital Mother and Child Health cards, allowing health records to remain portable and easily accessible for beneficiaries and healthcare workers.

Officials said the upgraded system builds on the existing Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) portal. The platform creates long-term digital health records by documenting services linked to pregnancy, newborn care, family planning and child development.

The government said JANANI will support regular monitoring and quicker medical intervention by tracking healthcare services continuously.

The platform includes several digital features such as alerts for high-risk pregnancies, automated reminders for check-ups and immunisation schedules, supervisory dashboards and due-list generation for healthcare workers.

Authorities said JANANI has also linked with national platforms such as U-WIN and POSHAN. The integration aims to improve coordination and data sharing between different welfare schemes.

Beneficiaries can register using Aadhaar, ABHA identification, biometric verification or mobile numbers.

The portal additionally supports nationwide search access, helping maintain continuity of care for migrant populations and preventing duplication of records.

The system also offers self-registration options through web and mobile services, allowing beneficiaries to directly access healthcare-related information and updates.

According to the government, JANANI helps citizens track antenatal visits, vaccinations and expected delivery details. The platform also provides information about nearby healthcare centres, nutrition guidance and health education support.

Officials said the platform has already recorded more than 1.34 crore beneficiary registrations. This includes over 30 lakh registrations of pregnant women.

More than 30 lakh digital Mother and Child Health cards now cover beneficiaries. Biometric teams have also completed over one lakh verifications.
