On Friday, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra strongly condemned Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent remarks about Dr. BR Ambedkar, stating that such insults would not be tolerated in India.
Addressing the media, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra stated, “They know that their true sentiments for Ambedkar Ji have come out. So, they are now scared of the Opposition because we are raising this issue. National interest is related to this matter. Our Constitution has been given by Ambedkar Ji, the people of this country and our freedom struggle. Such insult to him will not be tolerated by India.”
Priyanka also criticized the BJP-led central government, accusing it of avoiding a discussion on the Adani matter.
“This Government is scared. This Government is scared to have a discussion on Adani matter. It is scared of having any discussion,” she asserted.
The Congress MP from Wayanad further condemned the BJP for filing a complaint against her brother, Rahul Gandhi, for alleged ‘assault and incitement’ following a scuffle in Parliament.
She dismissed the FIRs as ‘false’ and ‘baseless’, stating, “This is the Government’s desperation. They are so desperate that they are lodging false FIRs. Rahul ji can never push anyone. I am his sister, I know him. He can never do such a thing. Frankly, the country knows this too. The country is watching how desperate they are that they are lodging baseless FIRs.These are all distractions.”
The political controversy escalated on Thursday when MPs from the NDA and the INDIA alliance clashed in Parliament, resulting in injuries to two BJP MPs.
BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi claimed he was hurt after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi allegedly pushed another MP, causing them to fall on him.
Sarangi told reporters, “I was standing near the stairs when Rahul Gandhi came and pushed a fellow MP. That MP fell on me, causing me to fall as well.”
The incident sparked a political row between the BJP and Congress, with leaders from both parties filing cross-complaints over the alleged scuffle on Parliament premises.
In response, BJP leaders, led by Anurag Thakur, filed a police complaint against Rahul Gandhi for ‘assault and incitement’.
Meanwhile, Congress MPs, including women leaders, approached the Parliament Street Police, accusing BJP MPs of misbehaving with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge during the incident.
Rahul Gandhi defended himself, claiming he was trying to enter Parliament when BJP MPs blocked and threatened him.
He also alleged that Mallikarjun Kharge was pushed during the altercation.
“This might be on your camera. I was trying to go inside through the Parliament entrance, but BJP MPs were trying to stop me, push me, and threaten me. This has happened. Yes, this has happened (Mallikarjun Kharge being pushed),” Rahul Gandhi told reporters,” Rahul Gandhi stated.
