Leh, Sept. 13: In a significant effort to further the vision of affordable housing and urban development in the Union Territory of Ladakh, Principal Secretary to the Administration, Housing & Urban Development Department, UT Ladakh, Sanjeev Khirwar, convened a high-level meeting at the Civil Secretariat in Leh.
The Principal Secretary presided over the meeting, demonstrating the Ladakh administration’s commitment to ensuring the successful execution of PMAY-U in the region. During the meeting, he emphasized the need for collaborative efforts between various stakeholders to achieve the desired objectives of the scheme.
In an informative and insightful meeting, the concerned departments of Leh and Kargil presented comprehensive and detailed presentations on the progress of PMAY-U in their respective districts. These presentations covered various aspects of the program, including beneficiary identification, funding allocation, construction progress, and challenges faced. Officials from Leh and Kargil shared insights into the allocation and utilization of funds under PMAY-U. They discussed how financial resources were being judiciously utilized to facilitate the construction and enhancement of housing units.
While addressing the gathering, the Principal Secretary Sanjeev Khirwar reiterated the Ladakh Administration’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that the benefits of PMAY-U reach every eligible citizen in the region. He called upon all stakeholders to work together cohesively to transform the housing landscape of Ladakh.
The meeting served as a platform for constructive dialogue and collaboration, marking another milestone in the Union Territory’s journey towards inclusive and sustainable urban development.
The meeting concluded on an optimistic note, with both districts reaffirming their dedication to the successful implementation of PMAY-U in the region.
PMAY-U, launched by the Government of India, is a flagship affordable housing scheme. Under the scheme, financial assistance is extended to eligible beneficiaries to facilitate the construction or enhancement of their dwelling units.
The meeting was held with the attendance of the Deputy Commissioner/CEO of LAHDC, Leh; Executive Officer of the Municipal Committee, Leh; and key officials, while the Deputy Commissioner/CEO of LAHDC, Kargil; Director of Housing & Urban Development Department (H&UDD), UT Ladakh; Executive Officer of the Municipal Committee, Kargil and key officials joined the meeting virtually to deliberate on the implementation and progress of the Prime Minister’s Awaas Yojana Urban (PMAY-U) in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
