Prime Minister Narendra Modi To Head Major Sessions At DGP–IGP Meet In Raipur Today

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will likely oversee the business and closing sessions of the 60th All India Conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police, taking place at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Raipur.

This year’s gathering, a major fixture in the country’s annual security calendar, centres on developing a future-ready framework under the theme ‘Developed India: Security Dimensions’.

The meeting brings together senior figures from India’s policing and intelligence establishment to assess progress on internal security priorities and outline the next steps toward strengthening national safety.

Over the course of the event, participants will engage in detailed discussions on subjects including counterterrorism, Left-Wing Extremism, cyber offences, narcotics networks, border security, disaster management, women’s protection, and the expanding role of forensic tools and artificial intelligence in policing.

During the proceedings, the Prime Minister will also present the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, honouring exceptional work by experienced officers across India.

The three-day conference, which opened on Friday under the leadership of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, features attendance from National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, state police chiefs, and the heads of central armed police forces.

The event stresses coordinated, inter-agency cooperation, especially in light of evolving digital and geopolitical challenges.

Raipur Under Tight Security Cover

Raipur, however, has been placed under an extensive security blanket for the duration of the programme. Layers of protection involving the Special Protection Group, NSG personnel, CRPF units, and state police have turned the city into a heavily secured zone.

Officials have deployed drone patrols, imposed traffic restrictions, and carried out stringent checks across strategic points.

The Prime Minister arrived in Raipur on Friday evening for a three-day stay, a rare extended visit to Chhattisgarh in recent years, adding political weight to the trip.

Upon arrival, he headed directly to the Speaker’s Bhavan in Naya Raipur, where he will stay throughout the conference.
