Prime Minister Modi To Launch Mumbai’s Aqua Line Metro & ‘Mumbai One’ App

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the final phase 2B of Mumbai Metro Line 3, spanning Atre Chowk to Cuffe Parade, built at an estimated cost of ₹12,200 crore.

With this, the entire Aqua Line, constructed at ₹37,270 crore, will become operational, significantly easing road congestion and providing commuters a reliable and efficient mode of travel.

The final phase improves connectivity to South Mumbai, covering Fort, Kala Ghoda, Marine Drive, and offering direct access to major administrative and financial hubs, including the Bombay High Court, Mantralaya, Reserve Bank of India, Bombay Stock Exchange, and Nariman Point.

According to the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), travel time from Cuffe Parade to Aarey JVLR will be under one hour.

The metro will operate every five minutes between 5:55 AM and 10:30 PM, with fares ranging from ₹10 to ₹70.

The Aqua Line, Mumbai’s first fully underground metro, will serve 1.3 million passengers daily, offering eco-friendly travel that will reduce 2.61 lakh tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

Launch of ‘Mumbai One’ App

In conjunction with the metro inauguration, PM Modi will launch ‘Mumbai One’, an Integrated Common Mobility App linking 11 Public Transport Operators (PTOs).

These include Mumbai Metro Lines 1, 2A, 3, 7, Mumbai Monorail, Navi Mumbai Metro, Mumbai Suburban Railway, BEST, and municipal transport services from Thane, Mira Bhayander, Kalyan-Dombivali, and Navi Mumbai.

The app enables integrated mobile ticketing, digital payments, and seamless multimodal connectivity through a single dynamic ticket.

It also provides real-time journey updates, alternative routes, station maps, points of interest, and an SOS feature for commuter safety.

‘Mumbai One’ enhances the overall commuting experience by eliminating long queues, promoting digital transactions, and connecting multiple modes of transport on a single platform.

This app, combined with the completion of Metro Line 3, marks a significant step towards a modern, sustainable, and commuter-friendly Mumbai.

The inauguration of the final phase of Mumbai Metro Line 3 and the launch of ‘Mumbai One’ align with the government’s vision to improve urban mobility, reduce traffic congestion, and promote eco-friendly public transport.

These initiatives are expected to transform the daily commute, strengthen connectivity across the city, and support Mumbai’s growth as a world-class urban centre.
