Prime Minister Modi Embarks journey to Dubai to attend World climate action summit

As he made his way to Dubai on Thursday to attend a crucial summit on climate action, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged developing nations to receive sufficient money and technology transfer to assist them cope with climate change.

In his farewell speech, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the significance India placed on the problem during its G20 presidency and claimed that India had “walked the walk” when it comes to taking climate action.

“Climate change was a key issue for us during the G20 presidency. The New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration outlines several specific actions for sustainable development and climate action. “I am excited about the COP28 continuing the consensus on these matters,” he remarked.

On Friday, during the United Nations “Conference of the Parties” on climate change, or COP28, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to attend the World Climate Action Summit.

The climate action conference is expected to bring together a number of world leaders to debate strategies for cutting greenhouse gas emissions and effectively addressing climate change.

The high-level portion of COP28 is called the World Climate Action Summit.

“To attend the #COP28 World Climate Action Summit, PM @narendramodi is traveling to Dubai. Arindam Bagchi, a spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry, stated on X that there was “a chance to interact with world leaders on the urgent problem of climate change and highlight India’s progress in meeting climate goals and future plans on climate action.”

In addition, the prime minister is expected to take part in three more high-profile side events. Under the UAE’s presidency, the COP28 is taking place from November 30 to December 12.

According to PM Modi’s remark, the COP28 will offer a chance to assess the advancements made possible by the Paris Agreement and choose the direction of future climate action.

“At the Voice of Global South Summit convened by India, the Global South spoke for the need for climate action based on the principles of equity, climate justice, and common but differentiated responsibilities, as well as a greater focus on adaptation,” PM Modi stated.
