President Murmu To Attend CUTN Convocation; Visit Srirangam Temple In Tamil Nadu

President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Tamil Nadu on 2–3 September, where she will participate in key official events and pay a visit to one of the state’s most revered temples.

According to official sources, the President will attend the convocation ceremony of the Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) at Neelakudi in Tiruvarur district on September 3. Established in 2009, CUTN has become a prominent centre of higher education in southern India, with around 3,000 students from across the country.

CUTN boasts a wide academic spread, with 64 departments offering programmes across humanities, social sciences, and advanced sciences.

President Murmu will deliver the convocation address and present degrees to graduating students, emphasising how academic achievement contributes to national development.

While earlier reports suggested that the President’s visit would begin on September 3, official sources have now confirmed that she will arrive in Tamil Nadu a day earlier, on 2 September, to accommodate all planned engagements.

Visit to Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple

During her stay, President Murmu will visit the Srirangam Ranganathaswamy Temple in Tiruchi, one of the largest functioning Hindu temples in the world and a major centre of Vaishnavite worship.

People regard the temple as a landmark of Tamil Nadu’s spiritual heritage due to its centuries-old history, intricate architecture, and cultural significance.

Temple authorities and the local administration are making arrangements to ensure smooth proceedings, while the President’s visit reflects her respect for the state’s rich traditions.

Tight security measures will be in place throughout the two-day visit, with both state police and central agencies coordinating to oversee the President’s movements. Authorities are also ensuring minimal disruption for the public while maintaining safety protocols.

President Murmu’s engagements in Tamil Nadu aim to highlight the state’s educational institutions as well as its cultural and spiritual legacy, reinforcing the importance of both knowledge and heritage.

Officials say the visit symbolises a blend of learning and tradition, providing students, academics, and citizens an opportunity to engage with the highest constitutional authority in India.

The convocation at CUTN and the visit to Srirangam Temple mark an important two-day itinerary that underscores the significance of Tamil Nadu on both academic and cultural fronts.
