President Murmu Presents Distinguished Service Awards To 92 Armed Forces Leaders

President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday presented Distinguished Service Awards to 92 senior armed forces personnel at the Defence Investiture Ceremony-II held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The awards honoured both serving and retired officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The honours included 30 Param Vishisht Seva Medals (PVSM), five Uttam Yudh Seva Medals (UYSM), and 57 Ati Vishisht Seva Medals (AVSM).

The PVSM is the highest award for exceptional service in peacetime, while the UYSM recognises outstanding performance during conflict.

AVSM is the second-highest honour for distinguished service in non-war conditions.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also attended the ceremony.

Notable Recipients From All Three Services

Among PVSM recipients were Western Command chief Lt General Manoj Kumar Katiyar, Lt General Dhiraj Seth, Lt General Anindya Sengupta, Lt General Devendra Sharma, and Lt General Dinesh Singh Rana, the new Andaman and Nicobar Command chief.

Vice Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh, Vice Admiral Suraj Berry, IAF vice chief Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari, and SWAC chief Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor also received the PVSM.

UYSM awardees included Director General of Military Operations Lt General Rajiv Ghai, Lt General Zubin A Minwalla, Lt General Hitesh Bhalla, and retired Air Marshals Sujeet Pushpakar Dharkar and Pankaj Mohan Sinha.

Recognising Commitment & Dedication

The AVSM list included Lt General Pushpendra Pal Singh, Lt General Rahul Raghavendra Singh, Vice Admiral Rajesh Dhankhar, and Air Marshal Venkataramanan Rajasekhar.

Major Generals Harsh Chhibber, M Khalid Zaki, and Rajwant Singh also featured.

Rear Admiral Sandeep Mehta and Air Vice Marshals Ajay Kumar Pan, Venigalla Srinivas Choudary, and Manish Sahdev were among the other distinguished recipients.

The Distinguished Service Awards reflect the nation’s gratitude for the selfless commitment of India’s military leaders.
