President Droupadi Murmu carried out the 21-kilometre Parikrama of Goverdhan Parvat using a golf cart, becoming the first sitting President to complete the sacred circuit.
Goverdhan Parvat is considered highly sacred due to its association with Lord Krishna. The Parikrama route covers important locations such as Danghati Temple, Radha Kund, Shyam Kund, Kusum Sarovar, and Jatipura.
The President is expected to offer prayers at the Danghati Temple, which holds special significance for devotees undertaking the Parikrama.
On March 20, President Murmu visited Shri Hit Radha Keli Kunj Ashram in Vrindavan, where she met Premanand Maharaj. She held a spiritual interaction with him and received his blessings.
This engagement formed a key part of her three-day tour of Uttar Pradesh, during which she participated in religious and public programmes.
Earlier, she arrived in Mathura and visited the ISKCON Temple. She joined the evening aarti and paid respects at the samadhi of A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, along with offering prayers at the Krishna Balaram and Shyam Sunder temples.
During her visit to Ayodhya, the President installed the ‘Shri Ram Yantra’ at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. The ritual, performed with Vedic chants by scholars, marked an important milestone in the temple’s development.
President Murmu also inaugurated a newly built oncology block at the Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram to strengthen cancer treatment facilities in the region.
The President reflects a combination of spiritual devotion and developmental focus, as she continues to visit key sites while supporting public welfare initiatives in Uttar Pradesh.
