Later in the day, President Murmu will lay the virtual foundation stone for a 46-km six-lane highway project worth ₹1,692 crore, which will connect the major cities of Indore and Ujjain. This project is part of the Madhya Pradesh government’s preparations for the upcoming Simhastha Mela, a significant Hindu religious event scheduled for 2028.
In a recent review meeting, Chief Minister Yadav emphasized that both Ujjain and Indore divisions share the responsibility for the Simhastha event, noting the importance of prioritizing connectivity, especially for devotees who often visit nearby Omkareshwar.
The month-long Simhastha Mela, held once every 12 years, is expected to draw a massive gathering of Hindu devotees to Ujjain.
On her first day in Indore, President Murmu engaged with tribal artists at Mriganayani Emporium, urging them to continue preserving their traditional art forms and underscoring the importance of maintaining ancient culture and heritage.
