President Droupadi Murmu Visits Ujjain To Inaugurate Projects And Attend Events

President Droupadi Murmu will visit Ujjain on Thursday to tour the Mahakaleshwar Temple, attend the Safai Mitra Sammelan, and virtually inaugurate a significant six-lane highway project.

During the second day of her visit to Madhya Pradesh, President Murmu will begin her day by offering prayers at the Mahakaleshwar Temple, accompanied by Governor Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. After her visit to the temple, she plans to participate in Shramdaan within the temple grounds as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva Pakhwada initiative. Additionally, she will visit Shri Mahakal Lok to interact with local craftsmen and distribute certificates to the Swachhata Mitras while addressing the attendees at the Safai Mitra Sammelan.

Later in the day, President Murmu will lay the virtual foundation stone for a 46-km six-lane highway project worth ₹1,692 crore, which will connect the major cities of Indore and Ujjain. This project is part of the Madhya Pradesh government’s preparations for the upcoming Simhastha Mela, a significant Hindu religious event scheduled for 2028.

In a recent review meeting, Chief Minister Yadav emphasized that both Ujjain and Indore divisions share the responsibility for the Simhastha event, noting the importance of prioritizing connectivity, especially for devotees who often visit nearby Omkareshwar.

The month-long Simhastha Mela, held once every 12 years, is expected to draw a massive gathering of Hindu devotees to Ujjain.

On her first day in Indore, President Murmu engaged with tribal artists at Mriganayani Emporium, urging them to continue preserving their traditional art forms and underscoring the importance of maintaining ancient culture and heritage.
