India marks its 75th Republic Day on January 26, 2024. President Draupadi Murmu addressed the nation, highlighting government development plans, future policies, the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, and central government achievements. Emphasizing India’s role as the “mother of democracy,” he urged citizens to remember their rights on this significant day.
Reflecting on the nation’s journey despite challenges, President Murmu noted the special significance of this Republic Day. Comparing it to the Amrit Mahotsav during the 75th Independence Day, he emphasized the transformative phase India is entering.
The President highlighted the importance of the Constitution’s commencement celebration, emphasizing the democratic essence captured in its opening words, “We the people of India.” He urged citizens to recognize their pivotal role in shaping the country’s future during this epochal period.
Acknowledging the hard-fought freedom gained on August 15, 1947, President Murmu expressed optimism as the country approaches the centenary of independence. He called for collective efforts to propel the nation to new heights and emphasized the significance of following the fundamental duties outlined in the Constitution.
The President emphasized that every citizen must contribute to India’s development within 100 years of independence. Quoting Mahatma Gandhi, he stressed the importance of fulfilling duties for progress, stating that those who focus solely on rights cannot advance.
