Preparations have been completed for Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Haryana on October 3, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini confirmed on Wednesday.
During his day-long visit, HM Shah will attend programmes in Kurukshetra and Rohtak, focusing on initiatives to support farmers and strengthen cooperative societies in the state.
CM Saini highlighted plans to restore trust in cooperative societies, which he said had declined during the previous Congress regime.
He said the government will enrol new members and facilitate the process online to ensure farmers receive timely benefits, emphasising the administration’s commitment to improving farmer welfare.
The Chief Minister underlined that these measures aim to revitalise cooperative societies as a key tool for delivering public services and supporting agricultural development in Haryana.
Responding to questions about Congress appointing former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda as Leader of the Opposition, CM Saini congratulated Hooda and Rahul Gandhi, but questioned the delay in the decision.
He criticised the party for internal rifts and flawed policies, contrasting it with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance, which he said prioritises empowering the poor and public welfare.
Alongside the preparations for HM Shah’s visit, CM Saini released Rs 404.79 crore as the second instalment of the State Finance Commission’s grant to Panchayati Raj Institutions.
The government will transfer the funds directly to the accounts of 5,719 Gram Panchayats, 144 Panchayat Samitis, and three Zila Parishads, significantly boosting local development and public infrastructure.
The allocation will accelerate grassroots development projects, enhance public facilities, and improve governance in rural areas.
HM Amit Shah’s visit, coupled with the state government’s focus on cooperative societies and rural development, underscores Haryana’s ongoing efforts to strengthen farmer welfare and local governance while maintaining active political engagement ahead of upcoming administrative and electoral priorities.
