Prayagraj Prepares For Maha Kumbh 2025 With Major Road & Infrastructure Overhaul

Once known for its narrow and worn-out roads, Prayagraj has undergone a remarkable transformation under the Yogi Adityanath government.

Building on the groundwork laid for Kumbh 2019, the city has seen unprecedented development in preparation for Maha Kumbh 2025.

Focusing on permanent infrastructure, over 200 roads have been newly constructed or upgraded to ensure seamless connectivity for the millions of devotees expected to attend the grand spiritual gathering.

As part of this transformation, the roads have been beautified with 3 lakh plants and 1 lakh horticultural saplings, enhancing their visual appeal.

Devotees visiting Prayagraj for Maha Kumbh will not only experience smooth travel but also take home lasting memories of the city’s welcoming and aesthetically enhanced atmosphere.

In preparation for the grand event, 200 roads have been upgraded to ensure seamless connectivity for the devotees.

This effort includes the construction of new roads and the widening and strengthening of existing ones, with contributions from three key departments.

The Prayagraj Municipal Corporation has led the effort, successfully reconstructing, widening, and strengthening 78 roads.

The Public Works Department (PWD) developed 74 roads, while the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) worked on 48 roads.

In addition to functional improvements, the roads have been beautified with a variety of plants.

The newly upgraded roads are adorned with 3 lakh plants and 1 lakh horticultural saplings.

These enhanced and beautified roads will ensure a smooth and spiritually enriching journey to the Sangam. They will provide devotees with an experience of divine bliss during their visit to Maha Kumbh.

Challenges Overcome During Development Of Prayagraj

The construction and development of these roads posed significant challenges. One major hurdle was addressing encroachments along the routes.

A total of 4,426 encroachments were removed, ensuring clear pathways for both devotees and local residents.

Additionally, 82 court cases were resolved to address legal obstacles at various sites, enabling the construction process to move forward.

Infrastructure adjustments were also made, with 4,893 electric poles successfully relocated to accommodate the roadwork.

As part of the development efforts, 170 kilometers of underground cabling were laid alongside the road construction, further modernizing the city’s infrastructure and enhancing its ability to host Maha Kumbh 2025.
