Prayagraj Police Uncover Fake Note Printing Racket At Madrasa, Seize Fake Currency Worth One Lakh

Prayagraj, Aug 28: The Prayagraj police have arrested four individuals involved in a fake note printing operation at a madrasa. They recovered fake notes worth one lakh rupees and printing equipment from their possession. The operation was ongoing at Azam Madrasa of Jamia Habibiya Mosque in Atrasuiya.

Details of the Operation

The suspects used a printer and scanner for the past three months. A room in the madrasa was provided by Maulvi Mohammad Tafsirul Arifin for this purpose. The arrested individuals include Mohammad Afzal and Mohammad Shahid from Kareli, Maulvi Mohammad Tafsirul Arifin from Atrasuiya, and Zahir Khan alias Abdul from Odisha.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) City Deepak Bhukar explained that the madrasa’s Maulvi was the mastermind behind the operation. Following an accurate tip-off, police intensified their investigation. They raided the madrasa after confirming suspicious activities. During the raid, they found three people actively printing fake notes. The Maulvi, who was also involved, was arrested following their confession.

Arrested Individuals and Findings

Among the accused, Mohammad Afzal (18) and Mohammad Shahid (18) are from Andhipur Road, Gausnagar, Prayagraj. Zahir Khan alias Abdul Zahir (23) hails from Odisha, and Mohammad Tafsirul Arifin (25) is from Atrasuiya. Police recovered bundles of fake ₹100 notes from the pockets of Mohammad Afzal and Mohammad Shahid.

Investigations revealed that Zahir Khan, an expert in fake note production, was given a separate room in the madrasa. He printed notes during school holidays, then cleaned and cut them. Afzal assisted him, while Zahir’s brother, who worked in Prayagraj, provided the scanner and printer.
