‘Politics Of Performance’: Amit Shah Hails PM Modi On 25 Years Of Public Service

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 years as head of government, recalling his journey from Gujarat Chief Minister to Prime Minister and highlighting his approach to governance and public service.

In his first post on X, Shah said October 7, 2001, marked the beginning of PM Modi’s continuous journey in public service when he took the oath as Gujarat Chief Minister. He described the 25-year journey as one driven by hard work, determination and the principle of putting the nation first.

Shah said PM Modi’s tenure as Chief Minister and Prime Minister had focused on the welfare of the poor, empowerment of women, opportunities for youth and the progress of all sections of society. He further credited him with reshaping governance through people-centric policies, implementation, decisive action, transparency and an emphasis on results.

In his second post, Shah highlighted several initiatives from PM Modi’s tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister, including the reconstruction of earthquake-hit Kutch and the Jyotigram Yojana, which expanded electricity access across villages. He pointed to solar energy initiatives, Vibrant Gujarat and strong agricultural growth as examples of the governance model developed in Gujarat.

Shah said the same approach was later expanded nationally after PM Modi became Prime Minister in 2014, with developments spanning areas from space and maritime capabilities to global engagement and internal security. He further highlighted government welfare measures, noting that 250 million people had moved out of poverty and millions of families had received housing, health coverage, cooking gas connections and tap water.

The BJP marked the milestone through the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, with programmes, exhibitions and public outreach events across the country. The Union Cabinet too congratulated PM Modi on completing 25 years of continuous leadership.
