Political Showdown As It Marks 5th Anniversary Of 370 Revocation In Kashmir

Political showdown ignited as it marks the 5 anniversary of abrogation of Article 370 from Kashmir turning the state into an union territory.

While BJP leader Kavinder Gupta has said that his party’s aim to remove Article 370 has resulted in the total integration of J&K and has also improved the overall situation. On the other hand, labelling 5th august as ‘Black day’, PDP’s spokesperson Virender Singh said it is a ‘Black day’ for Kashmiri constitution and constitution of India as well.

The former Deputy Chief Minister stated in an exclusive interview with a news agency that J&K’s welfare and integration have always been a crucial component of the party’s basic goal, dating back to the early days of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and the creation of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The President of Bharatiya Jan Sangh, Syama Prasad Mookherjee, declared that he had given his life to spearhead the campaign against Article 370.

“This is the reason why the problems of separatism, terrorism, corruption, family rule and peddling the pro-Pakistan narrative have been plaguing Jammu and Kashmir.” He added, “Bharatiya Janata Party’s only aim was that whenever we have an absolute majority at the Centre, we will abolish Article 370,” Gupta said.

PDP spokesperson calls 5 august, a ‘Black Day’ amid political showdown

The abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019 took away their rights. He exclaimed that the constitution has given the people of Kashmir the rights that Modi government snatched . He added, “Jammu and Kashmir was converted into a prison and the state was divided into two parts. It has been five years. There is no one to listen to our grievances here. Those who say that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has changed are making empty claims.”

He remarked: “Terrorism has increased of late in Jammu. After the removal of Article 370, there has been a spike in terrorist incidents in Jammu which was not there before.”
