In a significant development, police in Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra have unearthed two kilograms of explosives concealed underground by Naxalites, signaling a potential threat to security forces in the region.
According to a statement from the office of Gadchiroli’s Superintendent of Police (SP), authorities received intelligence regarding Naxalite activities aimed at targeting law enforcement personnel. The information indicated that a substantial quantity of explosives and other materials had been concealed in the Gondri forest within Kurkheda taluka.

Prompted by this intelligence, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squads (BDDS) were mobilized to conduct a thorough search operation in the area. During Monday’s search operation, the BDDS successfully located and recovered two kilograms of explosives, which were concealed in a pressure cooker buried two feet underground.
To neutralize the threat posed by the explosives, the BDDS promptly destroyed them at the location where they were discovered.
In response to the heightened threat, Gadchiroli SP Neelotpal confirmed that anti-Naxal operations in the district have been intensified, underscoring the authorities’ commitment to maintaining security and stability in the region.
