PM Narendra Modi will begin a two-day visit to Assam on Friday to launch, inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects worth more than ₹47,600 crore across the state.
The Prime Minister will attend programmes in Kokrajhar, Guwahati and Silchar, covering sectors such as road infrastructure, railways, waterways, energy and agriculture.
Officials said the projects will strengthen connectivity, create employment opportunities and accelerate economic growth across Assam and the wider Northeast region.
During his visit to Kokrajhar, the Prime Minister will perform the Bhoomi Poojan of Assam Mala 3.0, a major road development programme worth over ₹3,200 crore.
The initiative will build more than 900 kilometres of roads across the state to improve inter-state connectivity and strengthen links between national highways and rural road networks.
He will perform Bhoomi Poojan for six road projects in the Bodoland Territorial Council area, including four flyovers and two bridges worth around ₹1,100 crore.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for a railway workshop at Bashbari in Kokrajhar to strengthen maintenance infrastructure and create jobs.
To boost rail connectivity in the Northeast, he will flag off three train services — Kamakhya–Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express, Guwahati–New Jalpaiguri Express and Narangi–Agartala Express.
He will also dedicate the ₹2,300 crore Kopili Hydro-Electric Project to the nation to enhance clean energy generation and power supply.
In addition, PM Modi will dedicate railway electrification projects and lay the foundation stone for the Furkating–Tinsukia rail line doubling project.
During the Guwahati programme, he will distribute land pattas to tea garden workers and release the 22nd instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme, benefiting over 9.3 crore farmers.
