PM Narendra Modi Expresses Concern As UP Congress Chief Ajay Rai Under Medical Care

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern for the health of Ajay Rai. He offered prayers for his speedy recovery after reports that the senior Congress leader had fallen ill.

Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “I have received the news of Uttar Pradesh Congress President Ajay Rai ji’s ill health. I wish him a speedy recovery.”

According to sources within the state Congress unit, Ajay Rai was taken to a hospital in Varanasi after experiencing sudden physical discomfort. This included weakness and irregular blood pressure levels.

Medical staff attending to him have indicated that his condition is stable, though he continues to be monitored closely.

Party members suggested that his recent schedule, which included organisational responsibilities and public engagements, may have led to exhaustion. He reportedly felt unwell late on Thursday and was subsequently admitted for examination and treatment.

Senior Congress figures in Uttar Pradesh have visited the hospital and remain in regular contact with doctors.

Messages of support have also poured in from party workers and leaders through various platforms.

A key figure in eastern Uttar Pradesh politics, Rai has played an active role in efforts to reinforce the Congress party’s presence in the region. His illness comes at a time of increasing political activity in the state ahead of forthcoming elections.

Leaders from multiple political parties have also expressed concern and extended their wishes, reflecting a moment of unity beyond party lines.

Doctors are expected to release further updates following additional tests, with party officials expressing confidence in Rai’s recovery.
