Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday greeted citizens on the occasion of Maha Ashtami, the eighth day of Chaitra Navratri, dedicated to Goddess Mahagauri.
In a post on X, he offered prayers at the feet of Maa Mahagauri and wished that her divine aura bring happiness, prosperity and good health to everyone. He also shared a verse in praise of the Goddess, invoking her blessings for auspiciousness and joy.
In a separate message, the Prime Minister highlighted the unwavering faith of devotees in Maa Ambe, noting that such devotion strengthens their resolve and ensures that their inner strength never weakens.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also extended his greetings on Maha Ashtami. In his message, he wished for Maa Durga’s blessings to instil strength, courage and self-confidence in the lives of all.
Maa Mahagauri, the eighth manifestation of Goddess Durga, symbolises purity, tranquillity and grace.
Worshipped on Maha Ashtami, she is believed to bless devotees with serenity, prosperity and spiritual fulfilment, while her form represents simplicity, inner strength and unwavering faith.
Across India, people marked the festival with special prayers, rituals and devotional songs in homes and temples, while devotees observed fasts and sought blessings for strength, protection and spiritual growth.
