The seventh edition of the e‑auction of mementoes presented to Prime Minister Narendra Modi will begin on 17 September and run until 2 October.
Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, announced that this year’s auction would include more than 1,300 items available for public bidding.
Held annually, the e‑auction is part of the larger Sewa Pakhwada initiative, a fortnight of welfare activities observed across India in honour of the Prime Minister’s birthday.
India’s para-athletes, who competed in the Paris Paralympics 2024, have gifted sports memorabilia that features as a special highlight of this year’s auction.
These items showcase resilience, excellence, and national pride, and they are likely to draw significant interest from collectors and citizens alike.
Other items include traditional paintings, intricate sculptures, idols of deities, ceremonial gifts, and cultural artefacts. All the items are currently on public display at the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi.
All proceeds from the e‑auction will be donated to the Namami Gange project, the Government of India’s flagship initiative aimed at the rejuvenation and preservation of the River Ganga and its ecosystem.
Since the first auction in 2019, the initiative has raised over ₹50 crore for this cause.
Prime Minister Modi remains the first Indian leader to donate every gift he receives in public office towards a national mission, setting a precedent for service through symbolism.
Among the notable pieces in the auction are:
These items reflect India’s rich cultural diversity, artistic heritage, and deep spiritual traditions.
The Ministry of Culture has encouraged citizens to take part in the auction, calling it a rare opportunity to own a piece of history while contributing to a noble environmental cause.
Beyond art and memorabilia, the auction is also seen as a celebration of the values of service, sustainability, and nation-building.
Furthermore, as Sewa Pakhwada begins, the e‑auction stands as a unique blend of charity, culture, and civic pride, honouring the Prime Minister’s legacy through public action.
