Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sartorial choice once again became a focal point of public attention on the 77th Republic Day, with his distinctive headgear drawing admiration across media platforms and social networks.
While paying tributes to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial early in the day, the Prime Minister was seen wearing a deep maroon Rajasthani-style safa (pagdi), which quickly captured public interest.
The turban featured intricate golden zari work, mustard-yellow accents and subtle bandhej (tie-dye) elements, reflecting Rajasthan’s rich textile traditions and artisanal heritage.

News outlets highlighted it among the day’s standout moments, noting that the deep maroon, golden-motif turban ‘stole the show’ during the ceremonial proceedings. Comparisons were also drawn with PM Modi’s previous Republic Day looks, underscoring his consistent effort to showcase regional Indian craftsmanship on national occasions.
Fashion analysts pointed to the classic Rajasthani tying style, saying it projected cultural pride amid the grandeur of the military parade at Kartavya Path.
