PM Modi’s Firm Response to Opposition: ‘Even Ambedkar Can’t Alter Constitution’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a recent rally in Rajasthan, took aim at opposition claims that the BJP would tamper with the Constitution if victorious in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Asserting his government’s reverence for the Constitution, Modi emphasized that not even Babasaheb Ambedkar could abolish it now.

During his address in Barmer, Modi asserted, “The Constitution of our nation holds utmost importance for the government, and even Babasaheb Ambedkar himself couldn’t abolish it.” He accused the Congress of aligning with anti-national forces and criticized the opposition INDIA bloc for purportedly seeking to undermine the country’s strength.

Responding to the allegations from the INDIA bloc, Modi accused the Congress of attempting to “undermine the Constitution” by hinting at the imposition of an emergency in the country. He stated, “The Congress previously attempted to undermine the Constitution by imposing an Emergency, and now it’s hiding behind the Constitution to target Modi.”

This comes after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent accusation that the BJP’s “ultimate goal” is to dismantle Babasaheb’s Constitution, following BJP MP Anantkumar Hegde’s remarks about amending the Constitution with a two-thirds majority. The BJP dismissed Hegde’s comments as personal opinion and sought clarification.

Without specifying, Modi referenced the Congress manifesto’s mention of nuclear disarmament for the upcoming elections. He questioned whether a country like India, bordered by nuclear-armed neighbors, should consider eliminating nuclear weapons, calling out the Congress for its alignment with the INDIA alliance.

Earlier in Tamil Nadu, Rahul Gandhi reiterated accusations against the BJP, claiming they openly admitted to intending to alter the Constitution if re-elected. Gandhi alleged that the saffron party had openly declared its intent to “change the Constitution” if it remained in power at the Centre.
