PM Modi's Comprehensive review of HAL's manufacturing facility
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) site in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Saturday morning. During the visit, he will conduct a comprehensive review of the manufacturing facility, including the dedicated space for Tejas jets. This visit comes in the backdrop of the Indian Air Force’s recent issuance of a tender to HAL for the procurement of 12 advanced Su-30MKI fighter jets.
Defence sources have revealed that the HAL, a state-owned enterprise, is set to respond to the tender next month, providing intricate project details and other relevant information. The purchase of these Su-30MKI fighters is a collaborative effort between HAL and Russian original equipment manufacturers, aiming to bolster India’s air defense capabilities.

In a significant development for India’s defense sector, DRDO Chief Dr. Samir V Kamat announced that the engines for the LCA Mark 2 and the initial two squadrons of the indigenous Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) will be domestically produced. This collaborative effort involves American company GE and HAL. Dr. Kamat highlighted that all necessary clearances from the United States have been secured for this joint production, emphasizing the importance of this initiative for India’s self-reliance in defense manufacturing.
