Addressing a joint press conference with Angolan President João Manuel Goncalves Lourenco, PM Modi thanked Angola for its support and condolences against terror attack.
“We are firmly united in our stance against terrorism,” said PM Modi. “I expressed my gratitude to President Lourenco and the people of Angola for their sympathies for the victims of the Pahalgam attack.”
The Prime Minister asserted India’s determination to act. “We are committed to taking firm and decisive actions against terrorists and those who support them. We thank Angola for standing with us in our fight against terrorism,” he added.
Four heavily armed terrorists affiliated with The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba, carried out the April 22 assault in Pahalgam.
Authorities identified two of the attackers as Pakistani nationals.
Emerging from the dense forested terrain, they opened indiscriminate fire on a group of tourists, causing one of the deadliest attacks in recent years in the region.
On April 23, Prime Minister Modi chaired an emergency meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), where India announced a range of decisive measures against Pakistan.
These included:
These actions underscore India’s no-tolerance policy toward terrorism and those enabling it across borders.
Following the CCS meeting, PM Modi issued a stern warning.
“We will identify, trace, and punish every terrorist and their supporters. We will pursue them to the ends of the Earth,” he declared.
The comprehensive response reflects a major escalation in India’s counter-terrorism strategy.
It signals New Delhi’s resolve to uphold national security with a zero-compromise approach toward cross-border terrorism.
